First Light: This image was taken just after astronomical twilight with the nearly full moon illuminating the mountains. This tricolor composite has a little more than three minutes between exposures and rainbows along the leading edges of shadows resulted from the motion of the moon between exposures. Notice the star trails. The objective of the telescope system had not been final figured or thin film coated.
